The Briefing February 2025
South America and beyond
I have just returned from a three-week mission across Ibero-America. It has been a blessed yet hectic time. The Lord has surprised me in more ways than I expected. The needs are many, but God’s grace is sufficient.
During this trip, I led a couple to Jesus in a supermarket in Brazil and had a meaningful conversation with a young man seeking answers on my flight from Lisbon to London. It was an eye-opening reminder of how many people are ready to follow the Lord.
I also reconnected with many friends I had discipled during my previous time in Brazil. We spent meaningful time together, and a photo of this reunion can be seen on the right.
They are serving in various churches and mentoring many disciples themselves. This became evident when we gathered for a communion service on short notice, and 16 people joined us. After the service, there was a shared desire and a collective prayer for a new church. The NAMS Outpost in Brazil is now taking steps to plant a faithful church community in the area.
This is just one glimpse of what the Lord accomplished during my time in Spain, Portugal, and South America.
Please consider continuing to support our work as we serve the Lord and the faithful Church around the world.
Until Christ returns,
Bishop Josep Rosselló
Servant General
SPAIN
Recently, Richard and Lariza Lemus, along with their 10-month-old son Viktor, have joined the team and Mission Base in Jerez, Spain. They will work alongside Ivan and Mary. Additionally, Espedito and Luana Sousa, a Brazilian missionary couple, have partnered with the NAMS Base. This Mission Base is also supported by Companions Juan and Maida Gimenez in Santiago, Chile, and Peter in North Africa.
PERU
The Lord has opened a door for ministry work in Peru. A group of Christians—including pastors from various denominations—has expressed interest in establishing a NAMS Mission Base there. During NAMS visit, the Servant General, Bp Josep Rossello, met with Anglicans, pastors of the Church of the Nazarene, Baptists, and an evangelical congregation. He spoke at three churches, and NAMS organised a training day. Since then, we have received numerous invitations throughout Peru, requesting training and mentoring to help local churches grow and develop across the country.
CHILE
Chile holds a significant place in NAMS South America’s history, as it was the site of NAMS’ first church plant in the region. The Servant General participated in a spiritual retreat and witnessed the growth of Comunidad Cristiana ALP, an evangelical church in Temuco led by our Companion, the Rev’d Andrés Casanueva. This church has grown considerably and now boasts a dynamic leadership team.
During their visit, the Rev’d Andrés Casanueva and Bishop Josep Rossello met with Bishop Enrique Lago (Primate of the Anglican Church of Chile), Bishop Joel Millangir (Anglican Diocese of Araucanía), and the Rev’d Juan Villanueva, a Presbyterian pastor from the Iglesia Presbiteriana de Temuco.
In Santiago, Bishop Josep met with Juan, Maida, and their beautiful daughter to hear more about their future plans, including the missionary initiative Proyecto Felipe. Additionally, the Rev’d Felipe Cardoso, a Brazilian brother and President of a Bible Institute in Brasília, accompanied Bishop Josep Rossello to Chile.
BRAZIL
NAMS continues to grow and expand in Brazil. A new vision has emerged to establish a Mission Base in Pindamonhangaba, São Paulo—a vision born out of a spiritual retreat. The goal is to establish the NAMS Institute in Brazil, plant a church directly from the Mission Base itself, and equip and train church planters nationwide.
