Book of the Month January
As we step into a new year, it is both wise and necessary to pause and consider our spiritual development. Growth in godliness is not optional for those who follow Christ; it is essential. For the missionary disciple, minister, presbyter, or missionary, this growth requires deliberate investment and thoughtful attention to the means by which God nurtures our souls. Among these means, reading remains a vital discipline, and so I hope to share with you each month a book that has proven helpful in my own walk and ministry.
This month, I commend to you Dr. Greg Ogden’s insightful work, Go Micro: A Guide to Transforming and Multiplying Disciples of Jesus Through MicroGroups. It is a book that speaks directly to a subject I have often reflected upon and sought to implement in ministry.
Micro-groups have been a central part of my ministry over the past 21 years. In fact, this simple yet profoundly effective approach to discipleship played a crucial role in the planting of a diocese in South America. What makes micro-groups so significant is their capacity to make authentic disciples today. Wherever they have been applied with prayerful intentionality, I have seen results that surpass all expectations.
The call of the Society (NAMS) resonates deeply with this model. We are committed to raising missionary disciples—whom we call Centurions and Lydians—who will disciple others in their local contexts. Through Centurion Cohorts and Lydian Circles, we seek to inspire, equip, and support local churches in fulfilling their calling to be a visible and faithful witness to Christ.
It is my prayer that, as we pursue our growth in Christ, this book and others may inspire us to follow God’s call and will.
